Rurelec PLC is a company incorporated in England & Wales established to develop, own and operate power generation capacity in Latin America and to supervise rural electrification projects. Rurelec is managed by a team with a strong track record in developing power projects worldwide and with considerable experience in the electricity sector in Latin America.

Rurelec has two principal business lines:

1) Ownership of power generation facilities on the national grid and in isolated areas, selling electricity on commercial terms.

2) Management of rural electrification projects which connect outlying communities to a local electricity distribution system; projects which have been publicly funded by the World Bank, donor countries or multi-lateral development agencies.

Rurelec owns the largest power generator in Bolivia and owns capacity in Argentina, these are its main countries of operation. It is planning to target Chile and Peru for its further expansion in the Southern Cone of Latin America.
